There Ain't No Good Chain Gang
Normally, when I think of someone on a Georgia chain gang, this isn't what I think of. However, Jennifer Wilbanks may have to work off part of the $40,000 the city of Duluth spent on searching for her:
The mayor of Duluth, Georgia, says it took about $40,000 to conduct a search for Wilbanks. The 32-year-old disappeared last month just days before her lavish wedding and turned up days later in Albuquerque.
Duluth first put the costs at closer to $100,000.
The mayor isn't giving out further details, saying the city is in the midst of negotiations with Wilbanks' attorney. The mayor has said that Wilbanks could "work off" at least a portion of the search costs through community service.
Just don't assign her to any work details near the bus station. She might run off again.
