Through a friend, Mindy McCready released to Nashville media pictures of herself taken by the friend within eight hours of the attack.

Country singer Mindy McCready told a court yesterday that her former boyfriend was waiting for her at her Green Hills-area home Sunday morning after she had been out with friends.
He told her that she was not going to make a fool out of him by seeing other men, then he attacked her, she testified....
The testimony came during a preliminary hearing for William McKnight, who is charged with attempted criminal homicide and aggravated burglary....
McCready, 28, who had a No. 1 hit with her 1996 single Guys Do It All the Time, said that she struggled with McKnight on the bed as blood streamed from her mouth. At one point, she said he choked her so hard that she almost lost consciousness. McCready said that she tried to flee but that he caught her as she made her way down a flight of stairs.
Prosecutor Chris Buford had McCready identify pictures taken just after the attack in which numerous injuries to her face were visible. McCready said she and McKnight had broken up about two weeks earlier.
After the attack, she testified, McKnight tried to comfort her on a couch and wiped off her face before leaving.
McCready went to Saint Thomas Hospital for treatment, where a doctor told her that McKnight would have strangled her if he had choked her any longer, she testified....
McKnight's lawyer, Assistant Public Defender Allegra Montgomery, argued...''Yes, there was an attack, your honor, but that attack does not rise to the level of attempted criminal homicide''....
Metro General Sessions Judge William Higgins disagreed....
