Nesler (the son) Convicted
From KXTV:
A Tuolumne County jury on Monday convicted William Nesler of first degree murder in last summer's beating death of a Sonora man.
Nesler, 23, was accused of stomping 45-year-old David Davis to death just hours after Nesler had been released from jail for a previous assault on Davis.
The jury also found Nesler's friend, Dean Dee Phillips, guilty of being an accessory to assault. Prosecutors said Phillips picked up Nesler from jail on July 25 and went with him to Davis' location, where Nesler committed the murder. Phillips then drove Nesler away and helped him avoid arrest.
Nesler and Phillips, who has two prior strikes, are both scheduled to be sentenced on June 20. Each is facing 25 years to life in prison.
Nesler gained notoriety in 1993 when his mother, Ellie, shot and killed a defendant accused of molesting him.
