Salma Hayek Did Jury Duty

Well, sort of. She served on the jury for the Cannes Film Festival:

It is better to judge than be judged at the Cannes Film Festival, says Salma Hayek, the glamorous Hollywood star who is serving on this year's Cannes jury....

As for helping to dole out prizes as one of three international actors and one of four women on the nine-member jury, Hayek said that the Cannes awards are different from the Oscars, which she most recently attended for the biopic Frida.

"It's more personal at the festivals because, at the Oscars, it's thousands of people voting. Then, at a festival, it's a smaller group so it becomes more personal -- and there are fewer movies, too."

Hayek is the most "Hollywood" name on the 2005 jury. But she shares the honour with other prominent people, including Spanish actor Javier Bardem, a one-time Oscar nominee, and Indian star Nandita Das, often cited as one of the world's most beautiful women. Also included is novelist Toni Morrison, a Nobel Prize winner for literature.

Five filmmakers round out the jury, including Balkans maverick Emir Kusturica, the jury president whose past films, such as Underground and When Father Was Away on Business, have cleaned up Cannes awards in their day....

Ahh, my hubby (an attorney who selects real jurors quite regularly) has the hots for Salma. In a way that I'm completely comfortable with because, you know, I know he's all mine. I knew she was Mexican, but I had no idea that she was partly Lebanese, too! (I'm half Lebanese). Cool. :)

So your husband can legitimately say, "My wife's like Salma Hayek."

Except it sounds like he'd also say, "...but better."
