Whizzinator

From Darnell Dickson:

I’m not making this up
Police at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport questioned Minnesota Vikings running back Ontario Smith on April 21 after a search of his bag discovered vials of white powder. Smith told officers it was dried urine for a device called “The Original Whizzinator,” used to fool drug testing.

No comment or story here. I just wanted to use the word “Whizzinator” in a column. It’s worth 150 points in journalism scrabble.

From USA Today:

The NFL is investigating the case of Minnesota Vikings running back Onterrio Smith, briefly detained late last month at Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport after police found several vials of white powder in his luggage.

The powder was dried urine, part of a kit called "The Original Whizzinator" that was created to foil tests for illegal drugs.

Smith already has two strikes in the NFL's substance abuse program, including a four-game suspension last season for marijuana. A third strike calls for a one-year suspension.

"Under the terms of our policy, a deliberate attempt to substitute or alter a specimen during collection is a violation," league spokesman Greg Aiello said Wednesday. "But the possession of paraphernalia outside of a testing situation will be investigated and action taken if appropriate."...

Police searched Smith's luggage April 21 after it set off a security alarm....[P]olice...found the vials, a bottle of pills labeled "cleansing formula" and a prosthetic penis....

A person who answered the phone Wednesday at Puck Technology (Calif.) hung up after saying, "We don't give interviews or talk about the product." But on The Original Whizzinator Web site, there are many testimonials regarding the product's success at beating drug tests. It sells for $150, not including dehydrated urine and heating pad....

Smith, who has rushed for 1,123 yards in two seasons, was kicked off Tennessee's football team in 2000 for marijuana use and transferred to Oregon. His agent did not return a call.
