I gotta not get a new subscription to the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin. While reading Lonewacko, I found out about David Dreier's recent guest editorial on October 16. Excerpt:

As many of your readers already know, I oppose illegal immigration....

Americans for Better Immigration disagrees. His recent grade from the organization is a D+.

The Daily Bulletin editorial pages have been busy with people opposing Dreier.

(10/14) ...Democrats never mention the fraud involving people in their party voting twice, who have residence in Florida and another state. Registering dead people and voting for them. Illegal aliens registering and voting. Felons voting – and the lists go on.

Well, all the Republicans I know are concerned about all these issues. As far as more poor children in the country, well, there are thousands of poor coming across our borders yearly and guess what, they bring all their children with them and have many more when they are here.

You can attribute this to the Republicans and the Democrats. These people are bankrupting our society, yet Congressman Dreier and many others recently voted for giving benefits to people here illegally. Go to dojak.net and see Bill HR5006. See for yourself who voted for benefits for illegals....

(10/17) The federal government – including my congressman, David Dreier, and U.S. Senators Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein – is not willing to endorse grass-roots policies and ignores existing laws to stop the damage being done to California by allowing illegal immigrants almost unbridled access across our porous borders.

These illegal immigrants come from 19 different countries, we are told.

As soon as a major breech of security hits this nation because the attackers gained illegal entry across our sieve-like borders, who is going to take heed?

Why are local police prohibited from turning over illegal immigrants to immigration?

Why are there no prosecutions of employers for hiring illegal immigrants?

Why isn’t the Border Patrol allowed to continue its illegal immigrants sweeps?

Why are we supposed to accept Mexican identification cards and illegal immigrant driver’s licenses?

Why should we provide free medical care, free elementary schooling, subsidized college educations, welfare and also be considered guilty unless we provide food and water when illegal immigrants cross the hot desert?

Why do we provide them with central hiring zones?

Why should taxpayers provide illegal immigrants with Social Security benefits?

Despite our passing more bond issues, our schools, highways, prisons are full up, our hospital emergency rooms are closing. Pregnant women cross the border to create new U.S. citizens.

Are we a nation of law and order, with existing laws and borders to be enforced?

(10/21) David Dreier’s column in the Sunday paper had a lot of spin in it. First of all, he says that matricula consular cards are not available to illegal immigrants. Who else would need them but illegals? Legal immigrants can get green cards, visas, etc.

Secondly, I don’t believe that 750,000 soldiers are needed to seal our borders unless they were holding hands. If Congress believed that figure, then why was there the Goode Amendment to HR4200 which would authorize the use of the military to assist in border control functions? Why does Dreier believe that 14,000 Border Patrol personnel can beef up the border but it would take 750,000 soldiers?

In 1996, Dreier voted to prohibit illegal immigrants from being allowed to pay discounted in-state tuition rates. What he fails to mention is that he co-sponsored HR1684 which would reward illegal aliens with in-state tuition rates and amnesty in 2003-2004.

Dreier endorses President Bush’s Guest Worker proposal. It is an amnesty program because no one is going to enforce the law when it is time for a worker to go home. We can’t even prevent businesses from hiring illegals. Who in the world is going to keep track of them to make sure they go home on time?

And finally, look at the timing of Dreier’s Bonner legislation. He is taking a beating on his illegal immigration stance and is afraid of losing the election. He introduced the legislation a few weeks before the House of Representatives concluded its session, knowing full well that there was no room on the calendar to discuss the issue, let alone vote on it.

Dreier has not been listening to his constituents for the past five years. Join this Republican in voting for Cynthia Matthews, a candidate who is tough on illegal immigration.

(10/22) Republicans against Dreier
I am outraged by the column written by Congressman David Dreier on Oct. 16, headlined “Immigration must play by the rules.”

The real story is that Republicans in Dreier’s district are uniting to oust him by switching to immigration control Democratic candidate Cynthia Matthews.

Does the Daily Bulletin cover this historic, mass voter switch which involves many of their readers? No. They let Dreier use their publication to broadcast his propaganda. Shame on the Daily Bulletin for letting Dreier spread his propaganda.

I am a Republican voting Democrat for the first time in my life. I am not voting for David Dreier.

That is the real story, not Dreier’s propaganda piece of Oct. 16.

From January 2004 to September 2004, I have called and e-mailed David Dreier repeatedly to vote for numerous immigration control bills and amendments. Each time, Dreier did not vote for the immigration-control legislation.

Instead, he co-sponsored three bills that favored illegal immigrants, such as the bill that would grant in-state tuition to illegal immigrants at the national level.

David Dreier co-sponsored H.R. 1684 for national in-state tuition for illegal immigrants, but now he is not talking about that vote.

David Dreier is for an open border with Mexico. During the recent sweeps in the Ontario area in June, I called Mr. Dreier to express my support of the sweeps. But Mr. Dreier was in Mexico for one week on “state business” – at taxpayers’ expense.

I am voting for anti-illegal immigration candidate Cynthia Matthews. Congress members are only in office for two short years. A worthy Republican candidate will come forward in 2006. Dreier will be gone, and a real, immigration-control Republican will be on the ballot in 2006.

Shame on the Daily Bulletin for letting Dreier use the newspaper for his bully pulpit.
