Ladytron Witching Hour released in US today

There have only been a few times when I have bought an album on the day of its release, and I've forgotten most of the times that I did this. The only once I can remember is the counter-revolutionary Prince release "Sign O The Times."

Well, I did it again today, when I went to the Best Buy in Yorba Linda and bought Ladytron's Witching Hour. Fifteen bucks plus tax.

Long-time readers of my blog empire shouldn't be surprised that I bought the CD the first chance I got. See the Ontario Empoblog 9/21/2005 post, the Ontario Empoblog 9/20/2005 post, the Ontario Empoblog 9/14/2005 post, the Ontario Empoblog 9/4/2005 post, the Ontario Empoblog 7/2/2005 post, the KOER 9/22/2005 post, the KOER 9/13/2005 post, the KOER 9/6/2005 post, the KOER 5/26/2005 post, and probably a bunch of other posts besides. Surprised I didn't work them into the Technoblog or Oppose Traffic Calming Obstructions.

In other words, I just can't danged shut up about the band.

This despite the fact that I never owned any of their work before today.

As I sit at this computer, "Soft Power" is playing on the CD drive, and I wonder how younger folk relate to the band. It resonates with me because I've heard Depeche Mode before and after they formally added guitars to their mix, I've heard Client, and I've heard old Kraftwerk, and I've heard Eno stuff that, although different from Ladytron, is still similar (Tiger Mountain and Before and After Science in particular).

Trixie likes it, and agrees that it's not exclusively cold. Numan it ain't. But it's good and accessible.

Platesmasher isn't enthused.

Hey

Thanks for the trackback. It's good isnt it. Destroy is completely mindblowing but I didnt think the rest of tha album lived up to it on first listen.

After a listen or two I most certainly do though. I love Last One Standing in particular x

I'm still in the process of listening through the album. During my aforementioned (or post-mentioned, depending on how you look at it) drive into work this morning, I put "All The Way" on auto-repeat. I'll have to remember to do that if traffic gets tense.
