Stop the Damaging Threat to Northeast Ontario - Join the Ontario Vineyard Village Association!
From City Rentals:
In the late 50's and early 60's Merle Ryan and Kenneth Hall operated a gasoline service station on the corner of Sultana and Holt Boulevard in Ontario. As a sideline to their service station activities they started renting trailers and eventually added other equipment as their business grew. (Holt Boulevard was one of the only ways from Los Angeles on the west to Palm Springs on the east in the days before the I-10 Freeway). As the business prospered, Mr. Hall and Mr. Ryan rented a small lot and moved the rental operations across the street. Shortly thereafter the partners separated and Halls Trailer and Equipment Rentals came into being.
It all began for CITY RENTALS in 1968 when Dale and Richard Briggs purchased the assets of Halls Trailer and Equipment Rentals from the estate of the late Kenny Hall.
Richard Briggs? Haven't I read that name before? Probably not.
From the very beginning the family oriented Briggs brothers stressed top flite customer service, quality brand name equipment, and fair prices....
The photo above shows the second location of CITY RENTALS as it was in 1978 and the photo below shows us on the corner of 4th and Vineyard today.
The picture (click here) shows a bunch of equipment that I'm sure is really really noisy. And isn't there a residential area on the southwest corner of 4th and Vineyard? How could they allow such a business in a residential area?
We have to do something about this. I propose to found the Ontario Vineyard Village Association to preserve the residential character of the Fourth and Vineyard neighborhood.
Yes, I know I'm an outside interloper and shouldn't be sticking my nose in things going on over on the east side of Ontario. But after all, there is a particular precedent for this. (Check the address at the end of my early afternoon post - look familiar?)
