At Least They Didn't Have Posh Playing Joseph

Waxworks of England soccer captain David Beckham (L) and his wife, Victoria, depict the couple as Joseph and Mary, with Australian singer Kylie Minogue (top R) as the angel in a new celebrity nativity scene at Madame Tussauds in London. Church leaders have condemned the tableau.

Britain's Prime Minister Tony Blair (L), the Duke of Edinburgh (C) and U.S. President George W. Bush appear as the three wise men in a new celebrity wax work nativity scene at Madame Tussauds London, December 7, 2004. The scene also features U.S. actor Samuel L. Jackson, British actor Hugh Grant and Irish comedian Graham Norton as the shepherds, England soccer team captain David Beckham and his wife Victoria as Joseph and Mary and Australian singer Kylie Minogue as the angel.

There is so much wrong with that I don't even know where to start! Kylie as an Angel? Posh as Mary, good lord, what were they thinking? Bush as a wise man? Boggles the mind....

The wise men and shepherds don't particularly bug me, but if we're going to use contemporary people to represent Joseph, Mary, and heavenly beings, let's go whole hog. Buddha portrayed by Chris Farley. Mohammed portrayed by Ross Perot. Ronald Reagan (a religious icon for many) and Martin Luther King Jr. (ditto) portrayed by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

LOL! I can totally see what they were going for with the selection of Mary, Joseph and the Angel. Nothing like a love triangle. Bush as a wise man is so funny I've spit the proverbial coffee upon my proverbial computer monitor. Thanks for the giggles! ;) groovebunny
