Just a Buck to Find the Song
MTV documents an intriguing use of technology:
Here's how SongLink'd works: When you hear a song you want to identify, dial a toll-free number, hold your text-enabled phone up to the speaker for 15 seconds. A few seconds later, you'll receive a text message with the song title, artist name and a sample of the tune, with an option to buy it on the spot (it will also offer options for ringtones, wallpaper and other related items).
The service — which boasts a catalog of 2.5 million songs in its database — costs 99 cents per search and will not charge you if it can't find the song.
