Revisiting the Pet Shop Boys
Back in August 1998, I maintained that the Pet Shop Boys was the most humorous band of the 1980s. I quoted the overwrought lyrics of "Paninaro" to prove my point, but I could have just as easily have proven it with the video of "West End Girls" (what the heck was Chris looking at?) or the arrangement of "Always on My Mind."

Other over-maximum musics: the arrangement for Crystal Gayle's "When I Dream," the lyrics for the Bee Gees' "I Started a Joke" (see previous entry), and just about everything about the Prince song "Christopher Tracy's Parade."
